Booking Terms and Conditions
Appointments and Booking
New patients and patients who have not attended in over two years are required to book an initial consultation appointment
You may book a maximum of two appointments ahead. We reserve the right to cancel any appointments which exceed this limit
Appointments are subject to availability
In exceptional circumstances (such as illness, incident, or the premises becoming unavailable due to circumstances beyond our control) we reserve the right to postpone or cancel an appointment without notice. If you have paid a deposit for an appointment, this will be refunded to you or added as credit to your account
Appointments cannot be held provisionally
Cancellations
A minimum of 24 hours’ notice is required to cancel or reschedule free of charge. You can view our full cancellation policy here
Fees and Payment
We accept payment by cash, card or by bank transfer. (Please note we cannot accept American Express)
If you book an appointment online, we require a 50% deposit to secure your booking. The remaining balance must be paid at the time of your appointment. In line with our cancellation policy, we may not refund a deposit if you cancel with less notice than 24 hours’ notice
From time to time our prices may change. Any changes to our pricing will be clearly listed on our website
Online Bookings
Online bookings require a 50% deposit to secure your booking. The remaining appointment fee will be payable at the time of your appointment
Online bookings will trigger a confirmation email at the time of booking, and an SMS reminder 48 hours before your appointment. If you have not received these, your appointment may not be confirmed. In this case, please telephone 0141 772 7949
If booking online, it is important that you select the correct appointment type for your needs. Details on appointment types are available on our website and online booking portal. If an unsuitable appointment type is booked and the clinician is unable to provide the required treatment within the allocated appointment time, the clinic reserves the right to charge for the time reserved for that appointment
We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability of the online booking system, and reserve the right to amend or withdraw online booking services at any time
Appointments booked online cannot be rescheduled on line. If you need to reschedule an online appointment, please telephone the clinic
We cannot issue cash refunds for appointments paid for online
Late attendance / Missed Appointments
If you are on the way but running late, please telephone the clinic as soon as possible
If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, we cannot guarantee that you will be seen. If the podiatrist is able to see you, your appointment may be shortened in line with the existing appointment schedule. A full appointment charge will apply
If you miss (or are late for) multiple appointments, we reserve the right to refuse you future appointments or request full payment upfront at the time of booking
If you arrive late for an appointment which you have paid a deposit for online, this may be retained or put towards a future appointment if rescheduling (this will be at the discretion of the clinic)
Appointments missed without notice may be charged, or a deposit (if paid) may be retained
Patient and Staff Safety Measures
We follow strict infection control practices in our clinic for the safety of patients and staff. As part of our infection prevention and control procedures, patients experiencing symptoms of a potentially infectious illness are asked to contact the clinic before attending so that appropriate arrangements can be made. We may offer to rearrange your appointment in order to protect patients and staff.
Consent for Treatment
We are legally required to obtain consent before assessment and treatment can be undertaken. When making a booking, you may be asked to complete a Patient Form. This provides us with this consent to treat you, asks for certain medical information (which we require to make an informed diagnosis), and allows us to recommend treatment options which are clinically appropriate for you. Certain appointment types (such as nail surgery) may require further consent. This will be explained to you when booking.
Types of consent
When providing consent, you will be asked to select the type of consent which best applies to you. The options are:
You are the patient and are over the age of 16 years old at the time of booking;
You are the parent (or legal guardian) of a child under the age of 16;
You have Power of Attorney (supporting documentation required); or
You are the Welfare Guardian of the patient (supporting documentation required)
Please note: If none of the above apply, but you are assisting somebody else in making a booking, please ensure that they have given you express consent to do so.
Cancellation Policy
Appointments can be cancelled or changed free of charge up to 24 hours before an appointment. Cancellations or changes to an appointment with less than 24 hours’ notice may be charged. Our cancellation policy can be found on our website here: https://johnstonpodiatry.co.uk/cancellation-policy.
Refunding a deposit paid online
We require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel an appointment free of charge. If you need to cancel an appointment for which you have paid a deposit, and you have given us at least 24 hours notice, we can either:
refund the amount paid to your original payment method; or
transfer the amount paid as credit to a future appointment
If you select a refund, please allow 5-10 business days for your refund to arrive in your account.
Code of Conduct
We will treat you with dignity and respect and would ask you to do the same. We do not tolerate abusive or aggressive behaviour of any kind. As such, and in accordance with the rules and codes of conduct of the College of Podiatrists and the Health and Care Professions Council, behaviour of this kind may result in refusal or withdrawal of treatment at any time without notice.
Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers can be purchased from our clinic. If you wish, you can pay for a voucher over the phone and collect it in person
If the recipient of the gift voucher is a new patient, the cost of a gift voucher will be the cost of an initial appointment. If the recipient is a returning patient, the gift voucher is the cost of a routine appointment
Gift vouchers are valid for six months from the date of purchase. To ensure that the appointment can be booked before the voucher expires, early booking is advised
Vouchers are non-refundable and non-transferable (only the recipient names on the voucher can use it)
Disclaimer
We do not offer emergency appointments. If you require urgent attention, please call your GP, call 999 or visit your local Accident and Emergency department
Whilst every effort is made to ensure accurate representation of appointment availability, clinical errors can sometimes occur. In this case, we will contact you to advise and will endeavour to offer you an alternative appointment which suits your needs
